BROKEN

hi my loves, happy sunday. what a week it has been… today i am coming in here a bit more tender than normally. this week, i felt the theme of ‘broken’. i lost my beloved dog this last week, who i had for about 17 years; he was a rescue after he was abandoned and diagnosed with parvovirus. having worked in animal medicine for most of my childhood/teen years and into my early twenties, i was mostly on the other side, consoling those who were losing their loved ones. now having been a pet owner of my very own, and experiencing this first hand on the other side, it is almost like losing a piece of yourself with the love, time and energy invested in someone who truly depends on you. i love and miss him so much, rest in peace to my beloved taco <3

having been through this recently, i have taken recent times to reflect in being broken, and how to piece yourself back together. may this sunday treat you gently and warmly.

once so bright, now turned dim

from all those who stole from him

his heart, his money, his time

may he one day regain his strength

to pass them all on his own in the sky

i want nothing else

but time, air and freedom

from all of this pain

caused by a system

more broken than my heart

let go of its value

and accept its worth
