CONNECTION

hi my loves, i hope i am catching you on a warm and cozy time today; it is our day, at our usual time. i am sitting here, typing this in one of the sheet masks in my current collection, and reveling in a week full of, you guessed it, connection. i have talked about this a lot in various entries and posts here, but never on its own. connection is defined as “a relationship in which a person, thing, or idea is linked or associated with something else”. personally, i see this definition as a bit bland; from experience, connection is the magic that happens when two souls meet and share the same frequency. this phenomenon can last for a minute, a moment, or even a lifetime.

this week, i have found myself really enjoying simply just being connected; with people, places, and things. whether it be the coffee in my morning cup, or the sunshine that my skin is soaking up in the los angeles daylight; it can also be found in the eye contact my barista and i have in my weekly coffee adventure and that spark that happens in a writing session with my fellow creatives in the studio. in honor of connections, i offer the below pieces and proses for you, i hope you enjoy.

do what you gotta do

in order to keep you

at peace, and in tune

with your mind, body and soul

being aligned will take you farther

than you ever could have known

right now is the time

for healing and believing

in my soul, letting god know

that each day, i will break

my cycle and find my arrival

into my best fit skin

as warm as the light of the sun

as if you cannot ever say it again

what if i just disappeared

would you look for me

fight for me, die for me

i would do anything

to see how you really feel for me

what i can do is only in today

so it may see light on another day

memory lane

in honor of this week’s topic, this week’s memory is from a trip i took at the top of this year. in the midst of the massive wildfires happening in los angeles, i evacuated to the bay area (where i am originally from) and found myself in the familiar stomping grounds of my childhood: san francisco. home of not only some great childhood memories of mine, but also some of the best food and pieces of west-coast culture that i personally know of (the SF MoMa, Pier 39, Golden Gate Bridge, The Painted Ladies and Palace of The Arts to name a few). the bay area connects with me so deep, with how innovative it has been to the growth of my home state, and also becoming home to so many who comes to better their lives and see their dreams through. i find myself more grateful and connected to life each time i have the privilege of visiting what will forever be the place i come from; i am a proud bay area boy for life.
