REFRESH
my lights, my loves, my angels, happy sunday. as always, i hope to find you in a warm place today. over the course of an exciting week over here, i have had one word on my mind: refresh. we all need it, whether it be from our work, the people we interact with, our daily routine; there comes a time where we need to introduce something new in the mix to keep life interesting.
for myself, i have to follow a very diligent routine, otherwise i fall behind in my daily life and run into blocks such as anxiety, depressive slumps and fear of never finishing. in order for me to feel like life is moving fluidly, adding things that are new or unfamiliar are key to feel like progress is being made (this also helps with reflecting on recent accomplishments after said new things are finished). below are some pieces and memories on what i felt like when i was in need, or in the midst of refreshing life.

i find myself better in the quiet
the noise of the world is too much
pollutes my mind, darkens my soul
in ways only poisoned magic knows
the quiet saves me from losing
what i have come to love and know

down down down
all of it goes
the pain, the turmoil
into the unknown
finally, i can cleanse my soul
prose’s pond
may the clouds in the sky part
so i can take in his light
warm up my heart, and pull apart
all of the things that are keeping me in the dark

a powerful act of my life’s refreshment is traveling, whether it be somewhere i have been before or a place that is completely new. recently, i found myself migrating to the california desert for a weekend. being from california, i have always been in awe on just how much is actually here; the mountains, the ocean, metropolises, small towns, the list goes on and on. having been across california many times in my life, the desert remains one of my personal favorites; the stillness of it is so calming, and the silence is reassuring that while the world turns, one can pause and review themselves as deeply as they desire. my hope this week for you all is that you can find this space for yourself somewhere, whether that be right at home, at your favorite local café, or somewhere that brings you peace.
