SPACE
welcome 2024, and the word of the year
hi my loves, it has been more than a hot minute. happy belated holidays and new year; what a whirlwind 2023 was. i hope all of your celebrations were filled with warmth, merry and good memories to cherish as we march ahead.
in my time away, i was vastly reflective on my year; where i started, where i ended up, and the map i had drawn for the journey ahead. i have to be honest, i have had my highs and lows this last year personally and professionally speaking. however, my biggest takeaway was embracing the joy of having a safe place to sleep, my amazing support of family/friends/loved ones, and most of all, music. i started doing things i merely dreamed about doing, all thanks to the great people in my life. teamwork makes the dream work.
in ending my reflections, i had a word pop up in my last writings of 2023, SPACE. this is the factor of life that i seemed to start unconsciously being mindful of. making space for myself; my own happiness, dreams, aspirations. in that, i found that this year is the year of making space to work even harder (while maintaining homeostasis), my emotions to run more authentically, my voice to be heard, and to support myself deeper as a person and as a creative force. i would like to start of the year with the below pieces for all of us to sit with:

as if i was a bird finding my new home

Sure, the world has its ups and downs
Like a roller coaster, it has its highs and lows
The only thing you can really do, enjoy the ride for what it is
Remember that there’s nothing wrong with taking a break
When you return, will be stronger and wiser than your last one
And you will become even more so each and every time
